It has been a LONG year. We have had to deal with a lot of very uncomfortable and unpleasant issues in 2021.

Not only have the health and safety restrictions carried on for far longer than most of us thought they would, but the whole situation has impacted the world’s economy in a truly terrible way.

After almost a full year of stress and worry, we all need a little self-care and a little time to look after ourselves.

Whatever your inner diva wants, whether it is spoiling yourself by shopping at some secret sales, a bubble bath by candlelight, or whether it is a day of being looked after by your nearest and dearest, why not give it a try?

Everyone deserves to be spoiled and bring out their inner diva once in a while.

We’ve put together a list of seven top tips to bring out the diva in you: paint on a fabulous face, pour yourself a glass of champagne and give them a try!

Move Your Body

Moving your body and getting your blood flowing releases endorphins, which make you feel like the queen you are. Exercise is NOT all about losing weight. Every body on the planet is different, every body responds differently to movement.

But they all have one thing in common: exercise makes them feel good! You can only feel at your 100% diva best if your body is functioning well, and if you pay it the attention it needs to stay healthy.

If you want to bring out that inner diva, treat your body with the love and respect that it deserves and move it a little!

Get out that LBD

Every woman should own a little black dress (LBD). There is a fabric and a cut for every body type, so you’ll definitely be able to find one that is perfectly suited to you. Putting on a fabulous dress, even in the most mundane of situations, is enough to make anyone feel like a total diva.

Whether you’re going out to a swanky restaurant for dinner, heading to the cinema, or even staying home alone to binge your favorite Netflix slow, slip into that LBD, and you’ll feel like a million bucks!

Cocktails, Anyone?

You don’t need to wait for a special occasion to pour yourself a delicious cocktail. And what cocktail could be better than a cosmo?

The cocktail of the Sex and the City ladies. Soon you’ll be sipping in style. Here is how to mix one.

Ingredients

  • 45ml lemon vodka
  • 15ml triple sec
  • 30ml cranberry juice
  • 10ml lime juice
  • ice

For the garnish

Orange zest, or a slice of lime on the rim of the glass.

Method

STEP 1

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice, pour ingredients into the shaker, and shake. Strain into a martini glass.

STEP 2

To make the garnish: Hold a 3cm round piece of orange zest about 10cm above your drink and carefully wave it over a lit match or lighter flame. Bend the outer edge of the zest in towards the flame so that the citrus oils are released, then drop the zest into your drink. Et voila!

Sip your cocktail and relax, secure in the knowledge that your inner diva is alive and well.

What’s Cooking, Good Looking?

A diva doesn’t wait for someone to take her out for a fabulous meal; she makes one for herself! Go crazy: get that steak or the caviar, break out the candles and the good dishes and cook yourself a feast.

Make a delicious starter; how about trying something new and exciting like fried zucchini flowers?

A sumptuous main course should follow next: how about a garlic butter steak? Last but not least, a silky smooth dessert to finish everything off: what about a creme brulee?

Savor every bite and know that you don’t need anyone to do this for you. Your inner diva will be proud.

Positive Reinforcement

The person responsible for your happiness and that of your inner diva is you.

Before you speak to yourself, ask the question, “Would I speak to my best friend like this?” If the answer is no, then you definitely shouldn’t be speaking to yourself like that.

Remind yourself that you are a strong, independent woman. You are capable of anything you put your mind to. Positive self-talk is incredibly important and can impact how you view yourself: your inner diva wants you to love yourself!

Nailed It

Have you ever seen a diva with ragged nails? Nope, neither have we! We aren’t saying that you need to have long red talons, but few things say “diva” like a set of beautifully maintained claws.

You don’t need to spend a fortune at the salon; you can give yourself a beautiful manicure at home.

Set aside a few minutes of your time, push back those cuticles, apply your favorite color (even if it’s clear), and don’t forget the cuticle oil and moisturizer when the polish is dry! Ah, divalicious nails.

Be Grateful

Nothing is more beautiful or more essential than gratitude, even for divas! While divas may demand the best, they are also always thankful and grateful for all that they have. This gratitude rubs off on the people around you.

Letting your loved ones know that you notice all that they do for you, keeps good things flowing your way. Always be grateful for what you have, and your inner diva will continue to flourish.

Wrap Up

As you can see, there are many ways to bring out your inner diva. Some of them might be slightly unexpected, but then so are all the facets of a diva. She demands the best in her life, but she is grateful and offers the best in return.

She loves to be wined and dined, but she knows how to take care of herself too. We hope that these tips help bring out the diva in you.

Try them all and enjoy!
