  1. Hello! I need your help people. Recently my brother brought a bottle of Worcestershire for bbq and we still have pretty much left. I don’t like this sauce that much but my husband adores it. I heard this condiment might be harmful. So the question is… Can Worcester sauce give you cancer? Did you hear anything about it?

    • Hello!

I only know that the scientists did find some harmful components in it that might probably cause cancer. But I guess if you take a very little of that sauce once a year that won’t kill you right? But if you’re so concerned, better stop buying it.

  2. How long is Worcestershire sauce good for after best by date? I have a bottle that’s 2 y.o. by now. Is it safe to use? Thanks.

    • Worcestershire sauce can last for up to three years after you open the bottle but in this case keep it refrigerated.

  3. Is Lea and Perrins sauce still made in Worcester? I want to buy a bottle for a try but I want the original product. Thank you.

    • Hey there! Yes! It is still produced in the same area where it was first created. I know that because I live nearby.

  4. Hello! I have a sauce issue! Yesterday I noticed a bottle of horseradish sauce in the fridge and it seems pretty old. Can someone tell me: does horseradish sauce go bad? Thanks so much!

    • Hi! It does go bad, if the sauce is moldy, mushy, or smells off, it is spoiled. Check yours and, if you find any of these signs, I would advise you to discard it.

  5. Hey everyone! Please, help me to clarify one thing! What can you use Worchester sauce for? I only know it’s used for a bloody mary! Ha-ha!

    • Hello!

It will fit any meat or veggie dish, sauces, salads, and dips. For the soups, it is also fine.

  6. Do you refrigerate worcestershire sauce after you open it? I bought it yesterday and opened the same day, so after dinner and until now the sauce has been in the fridge. Is it ok?

    • It’s absolutely fine, believe me! This sauce has so many preservatives in it that it doesn’t matter whether you refrigerate it or not. It’s considered to be very shelf-stable in fact! But even if you chill it in the fridge, it won’t make it go bad or something.

  7. Hi! Does anyone know how to store worcestershire sauce properly after it is opened? Shall I leave it on the shelf in the kitchen, or is it better to refrigerate it? I’ve never used it before so I’m not aware of such nuances. Thanks in advance!

    • Hello! Well, you can go one of two ways. You can leave it where it is, on the shelf, since worcestershire sauce is a very shelf-stable stuff and it won’t spoil that easily. It contains lots of preservatives that make it quite durable in terms of storage.

But you can also keep it in the fridge! Cold will cause no harm to the sauce. On the contrary, I guess it may even extend its lifespan.

  8. We tried to make some worcestershire sauce yesterday! It was fun, of course, since we have never made anything like that. But now we kind of have a problem. Are there any specific rules on how to store homemade worcestershire sauce?

    • I’d not say there are any specific rules…You should keep it in the airtight container, that’s true, but this is the common rule for all the goodies like this. Also, the sauce should be kept in a dark and cool place, something like a pantry perhaps.

And of course, after you open it, keep it refrigerated to help the sauce retain its taste and quality!

  9. I heard that worcestershire sauce can be kept unchilled for quite a long time. But how to store opened worcestershire sauce out of the fridge? Is it possible at all?

    • I’d not recommend you keep it unchilled, if I were you. This sauce is really long lasting, but after you open it, it can be affected by different bacteria that can get into the container. Temperature fluctuation is another issue that may lead to faster spoilage.

So I would recommend you store it in the fridge. That’s the safest option, as for me.

  10. I received several bottles of worcestershire sauce these days, but it’s homemade. How long does homemade worcestershire sauce last? Can I store it the same way as a store-bought sauce?

    • If you keep it in the fridge tightly sealed in the air-tight container, it will last easily for a couple of months. But as for the way of storage, I’d not recommend you keep it on the shelf after opening, since it’s less filled with preservatives compared to the store-bought foodstuff.
